Imtiaz is South African born, but lived in New Zealand for 11 years. In following his interest and passion for human performance, he earned a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science, and a postgraduate diploma and MSc in Exercise Rehabilitation at the University of Auckland. Imtiaz has studied and experimented with various exercise techniques, and worked with people of all backgrounds from the chronically ill to world champion athletes. Imtiaz saw in CrossFit a wonderful method to apply his knowledge towards improving the lives of everyday people, but also an opportunity to build the lifestyle he sought. Imtiaz believes that a successful CrossFit affiliate grows the greater CrossFit community, and that a greater CrossFit community in turn helps to grow affiliates.
After a life of non-existent physical activity, Rubert (Ruby) joined CrossFit Jozi in May 2011 along with his younger brother and father. Ruby immersed himself in to the CrossFit lifestyle and not only spent time in improving his health and performance as best he could, but in learning everything he could about CrossFit. Given his strong marketing and business background, Ruby found the CrossFit affiliate model to be a simple but unique method to building a successful business and life. Ruby’s goal is to give CrossFit affiliates the tools and knowledge they need to run the business side of their gyms.
